About me
I retired from my professional career in 1990. I was a lab technician when I earned my bachelors degree and entered industry as a research chemist. My major projects were the measurement of thermodynamic properties of rare compounds of interest to electric discharge lamp (street light) technology and the automation of gas chromatographic techniques for the characterization of coal-derived synthetic fuels. Although successful by many standards, I was still missing the vital essence of the meaning of my life. I gave up my material possessions to embark on a journey to see America and find myself. I explored National Parks and small towns. I labored alongside migrant farm workers. I was a carnival ride foreman for one season. I camped in the desert one winter. I rode freight trains. I became homeless. Upon arriving in Oregon I realized that my travels had brought me home. Accustomed now to simple out-door living, I found pleasure in writing about my time and life. Over the years I have integrated myself into my community. Virtually independent financially, I am free to devote my time to my artistic endeavors; writing rhymes, illustrating them with colored drawings, and exploring the world via the internet from the comfort of my home.
